Goodbyes and Good buys - A takin' care of businesss post dedicated to Josh Ward

My new friend and one of the biggest fans of takincareofbusinessbaby.blogspot.com (yeah that was incredibly unnecessary to write that web address and then tell you that it was unnecessary) Josh Ward has had to move back to his hometown of Coffs Harbour. I have not known Josh for long but i have an incredible amount of respect for him. Legit dude. Cool guy. Future male nurse.Incredible movie memory. Smart like smarties, but not chocolately.Have an awesome time back home man. I will see you again in the not so long distant future.

A Day of Takin' Care of Business

Monday

Task 1:
A Not-for-profit Marketing presentation outlining the differences between social marketing and commercial marketing.

I don't fear public speaking, but i wasn't 100% sure of my material so i wasn't 'feeling it.' Ended up being a 9 minute presentation, well received and was given solid positive feedback.

After the presentation i headed off to my employee relations night class to take part in a debate.

Task 2:
The topic was, 'Employees should have the right to third party representation during negotiations.'

I was on the negative team. So we had to argue AGAINST the law in place.

To add further pressure, we had a HR manager from Holden watching who i'm pretty sure is a big head honch - he has been there for 17 years.
Both sides were really good. We were all actually 1 team.

The way the negative team argued was incredible. To put it this way:

It was like a mafia mob boss continually giving backhands to the face of a child all because he was breathing.
(I don't condone violence, but i had to describe it somehow).

Seriously amazed can't believe we won.


Played 'takin care of business' all the way home. Finally. Praise God.

Three Posts in 24 Hours - A Lo-triet.

Saw this ad and i just had to put it on.

Recognising and Appreciating the insignificant things in life.

Aside from taking care of business and being the person known as, 'Daniel, Dan, Danny, Lotriet, Lotty or Batman, i enjoy recognising and appreciating the small and generally overlooked things in life. Taking care of business requires a keen eye to be able to pick up on everything that is going on.

About a month ago, i went bowling with friends. Here is a very efficient yet effective (short) video of my friend Dan bowling, listen closely.




What do you appreciate about this?
What I appreciate about this is the laugh in the background. The laugh by a very good friend of mine, Aaron Crawford. Hear the nature of the laugh. Picture what his body language was like when he did laugh. This laugh is amazing. It does not care about feelings of others. It is straight up in your face. If there was a taking care of business laugh this would be it.

The downside of a vast social network

To really take care of business requires a large social network of people from different walks of life.


In the wise words of superwog, ' I like money. People have money. Therefore i like people who have money.'  I'm not like that, but hearing that makes me laugh continuously.

Some may use the term, 'Friends.' I like to be specific when i describe things, for example when rating a movie i give it a %  to the 2nd decimal place. It is due to this love of accuracy that i use these terms when applicable:

Friends
Acquaintances
Colleagues
Carlton Supporters

 

Harnessing this network is a key to taking care of business. Generally i maintain friendships via activities involving a meal. There are two main problems in the meal activity:


Meals cost money

Most food i consume while outside is the nutritional equivalent of bin juice.


Sure i don't have to do that, but it is what is required to feed the network at this current point in time. The network is like a spider eating a fly caught in its web, except i am the fly and i am being constantly regurgitated and eaten, over and over again.

A thought then came to me.

I believe there is a market for a decent dining experience serving healthy meals for a very affordable price. I'm talking caesar salads for $6. I'm talking wraps for $5. The caesar salad would include croutons, so you know it's going to be legitimate caesar salad. I'm talking about a dining experience so cheap yet good enough that students such as myself will resort to eating out more than eating in.
I can hear you saying, ' that's stupid, it's not profitable enough'
                                 'it exists ning nong, it's called subway'

See the key factor here is to realise that it would be so cheap that the volume of repeat customers is much higher and more regular.
Also, subway is too limited in choices.

A Social Observation - Sounding Smarter than you Actually are VERSION 2

Today's post shall be short and rather controversial (not really but it let's me say i told you so if you disagree).

Let me equip you:
per se
so forth
and so on
so to speak

Using these terms at the right time in a casual manner is the key to sounding like you know more than you actually do. They also allow you to not have to think deeply about what you're saying.I have witnessed the use of these phrases first hand this semester at uni in one of my lectures. These are terms that no one really thinks about when people use them in everyday language.

Try them in any sentence.
Eg: Ford make the best cars in Australia  due to their quality standards, customer orientation , competitive pricing and so on.

And so on? Tell me more. Oh wait, you can't actually think of anything else but i am going to just believe that you know more about this topic.

Eg: Generation Y employees are more likely to change careers and jobs more frequently than Gen X per se.

Per se?Per se? Shut your mouth you aren't that smart.

Eg: People put on weight due to a lack of exercise, unhealthy lifestyle, bad eating habits and so on.
and so on? What else is there?

*A note before you reply (this is specifically directed at someone with the initials M.H whom i know is going to argue this )
#1. I don't want some dumb reply about how you can't use them in every sentence and so on.
#2. I don't want a list of other reasons why people put onweight ie: binge eating, genetics and so forth.

A Superwog Breakfast - A post dedicated to Greg Krooza

Best way to start a weekend - breakfast with Greg Kroooooosarastsastsastysky.

Let me tell you a bit about Greg.
FOUR FUN FACTS
#1Greg is the kind of guy that does what he wants when he wants. As someone that likes to take care of business, i respect that. He wears jeans that cut off circulation to every part of his anatomy, but he doesn't care.
#2Greg doesn't care what anyone thinks about him. Greg moons social norms with his behaviour. It's magical.
#3Greg is Macedonian. Greg went to Salesian College in Oakleigh (wog central).He is 100% pure certified wog blooded, but doesn't act like it. The beauty of this is that when he wants to act like a wog he is so legit that it's incredible to watch.
#4Greg has a greater love for guitars that he does for women. So for the ladies out there if you want to get to know Greg better learn these words: FENDER, P-BASS,AMP, EFFECTS, PEDAL, ERNIE BALL, VINTAGE. That will get you to about 1minute of conversing until Greg realises you aren't legit and gives you a 'Fulleh sick backhand bro.'

We both had the most perfect toast of our lives. It was incredible. It's depressing to know that for the rest of my life it's all downhill from here when it comes to toast enjoyment.The ratio of butter-bread was impeccable.

We then headed across the road to music junction (some lamo music store). I finally was able to see and hold a Roland AX Synth.

 On the way home while i was driving, Greg, inspired by Superwog, yelled, 'WHAT A HEAD,' to random people passing by. Greg does the things i want to do but never do. He is awesome.
